We aren’t in Kansas anymore!

We aren’t in Kansas anymore!

We arrived safe and ....safe.

Smooth flights, good connections, every piece of luggage accounted for ( and all the children). Twenty two hours later we arrived pretty exhausted and a little overwhelmed. Not so much by anything we arrived to, but more because of what we left behind. Family, friends, summer, Kelowna and ‘HUGO’ -need I say more?!

None of us are good at saying ‘see ya later’ but Ive become especially practiced at stonewalling my emotions for fear of never regaining control of them again. So with this particular good bye (lets call it what it is), I’ve  convinced myself  not to look back and definitely don’t look forward, am I avoiding or am I living in the present? It has worked for me so far ...I’ll keep you posted.

The girls are holding up really well considering...the end of the day is challenging when everyone is getting tired but that’s to be expected. There are definitely some nerves about starting school, again totally understandable. Tomorrow we go to the school to get their uniforms which I expect could go either way. Lots of tears or fits of laughter...any bets?

Fortunatley everyone is very happy with our temporary home, and I’m ecstatic that the girls all have their own bathrooms. The only downside is that it is FREEZING! Yes you heard that right from this native Calgarian. I finally understand what it means not to have central heating . To give you an idea, Marlo went to bed the first night with a long sleeve t-shirt, 2 sweatshirts and her down jacket UNDER her down duvet cover. Contemplate that ! The days are very pleasant , its just counter intuitive to open the doors in the morning to warm up.

More on our adventures another day.

Warm wishes

J
